FORTUNE COOKIE CHALLENGE

Let’s break this task down:

First, we’d better make sure that we know what a fortune cookie is.  Take a look at the picture.  Have you seen one of these before?  You sometimes get them at the end of a Chinese meal and the slip of paper inside is supposed to tell your fortune/future.

Pick one of the Fortunes listed here.

You are going to tell us the story of how this fortune came true – or didn’t - and your reaction to it.

 You will soon have a dream that comes true.

 An injury will turn out to be a blessing.

 Someone will soon be spying on you.

 Life is risky. Buy running shoes.

 Look under your bed. Use a flashlight!

 Beware of puddles.

 You will soon win something that you do not want.

 You will soon have a question and a rabbit will have the answer.

 A secret message is on the way.

 Help is around the corner but there are many corners-only one will be helpful.

 Tomorrow expect the unexpected.

 You have two secrets. One must be told.

 There will be pressure. Do not give in.

 Do not trust the words of others.

 Today will be a good day to try out a new skill.

 What sounds like an invitation may be a trap.

 Things will be overheard. Choose your words carefully.

 Try plan B.

Now you have picked your fortune, think about how to write your monologue.  Tell us about the moment you read your fortune cookie.  How did you feel?  You can talk about what you thought it meant versus what it turned out to be.  How did events unfold?  For this challenge, you can be yourself or you can play a character – whichever works best.

Remember the 5 Actors Tools

Come on-screen and perform your monologue!

And don’t worry, if you start recording and it all goes wrong, you can re-set it.
